Hi! I’m Kristy, a Western Pennsylvania transplant living in Northern Virginia. I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, a master’s degree in school counseling from Marymount University, and a school library media certificate from Longwood University. I also earned a Technical and Professional Writing certificate from Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA).
I spent 18 years in education, working as both a school counselor and a school library media specialist. In 2023, I stepped away from education to work as an IET writer for NOVA and later as a writer and editorial coordinator for Discovery Publications, a local newspaper.
I am now returning to education as a school counselor while continuing to write articles for Discovery.
My other writing experience includes interning with ROUTE Magazine and ghostwriting five books. My creative work has appeared in several literary magazines, and I have self-published a young adult trilogy and a short story collection.
I’m also proud to call myself a Xennial.
